The Passing of the Gavel

June 10, 2021When a council changes Grand Knights, there is a Passing of the Gavel Ceremony. Grand Knight Terry Sylvanus is stepping down after serving the St. Thomas Council for two terms and passing the gavel to Dennis Breton. We will miss Terry Sylvanus and his dedication to the St. Thomas Council!
Dennis Breton will be the new St. Thomas Council Grand Knight and will take office on July 1, 2021. Dennis has experience, as he had previously served as St. Thomas Council Grand Knight in 2018 – 19. We look forward to Dennis’ direction and leadership!
Outgoing Grand Knight Terry Sylvanus said the following closing remarks:
Brother Knights, earlier we listened to our Worthy Lector, Brother Jerome, speak to us about gratitude.
I am extremely grateful to all of you. These past two years have been very remarkable. Our council, you Brother Knights, have answered the call and responded during changing COVID-19 PROTOCOLS with a willingness and dignity as a team.
Every time our council has been asked the answer has been a resounding yes. I can’t remember us ever saying no to any request. WE found a way to make things happen.
Our council has achieved STAR council in 2019-20 and again in 2020-21. No one person, not your Grand Knight, your Deputy Grand Knight, no one person can, Our Team Did!
I am grateful to My Brothers for all your support. You have shown our council to be “Knights of Action”.
YOU have made this Grand Knight’s job easier. I thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart.
