St. Thomas Council awards Knight of the Month for February 2022 to John Chandonnet, who has been a knight in the St. Thomas Council for over 10 years.
John has been the council’s Recorder for the past four years and will be serving another term next year. John previously served as Grand Knight for three terms. Besides his Recorder duties, John performs many behind the scenes tasks. John orders name badges, takes attendance at each Council meeting and maintains a database of all Surge hours, which he submits to the Financial Secretary at the end of the year. John submits articles, updates, as well as the monthly meeting minutes to be posted onto the council’s web page. John serves on the Family of the Month committee, where he interviews the family of the month, prepares a writeup for the web page, prints the certificate and presents it to the family before mass. John serves on the Knight of the Month committee, where he prepares a writeup and certificate to be presented at the following council meeting. John also serves as Community Program Director. John coordinates the Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest and the Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest for St. Thomas School. John will be representing the Council at the upcoming Maine State Convention at Sunday River as a voting delegate.
John performs several duties at church, as well. John is a Reader, Altar Server and Eucharistic Minister. John leads the Rosary service prior to the Saturday 4:00 pm mass. John also coordinates the Coffee and Fellowship get togethers after the Sunday 9:00 mass.
Despite his many duties, John is always willing to lend a hand at various council activities, such as working in the kitchen at Haddock Dinners, selling raffle tickets for the Children’s Christmas Party, working at the concession at Sanford Mainers games or working at the Acton Fair.
