The St. Thomas Council, Knights of Columbus, have chosen the family of Matt and Alethea Pettine as family of the month for April 2021.
Matt and Alethea are proud parents of a daughter Alana and a son Alex. Matt is a longtime knight with the St. Thomas Council and has been the council’s treasurer for the past several years. Although this position involves lots of work, Matt still finds time to serve as Scoutmaster of St. Therese’ Troop 327 and coach St. Thomas Boys’ Basketball. Matt is also involved in various Knights of Columbus activities such as the Lenten Haddock Dinners, the Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest and the Catholic Citizenship essay contest.
Matt’s wife Alethea, wife of 17 years, is active with her husband in various Knights’ charity efforts. She is also a St. Thomas School volunteer - including substituting, chaperoning, and leading the Penny Auction in past Spring Fever Fairs.
Their daughter Alana, a St. Thomas School Alumni, is now a Sanford High School Sophomore in honors classes. Alana volunteered as last year’s St. Thomas Basketball coach and also as a referee on occasion. Alana is a Camp Nutter Volunteer for the local Cub Scouts and participates in the ‘Stuff the Bus’ program in Sanford.
Their son Alex is a sixth grader at St. Thomas School. Alex has worked with Knights of Columbus on Haddock Suppers and Tootsie Roll Drives. Alex works with the Scouts cleaning local trails, building drainage terraces for a soil conservation project at Oakdale cemetery, placing flags during Memorial Day and placing Wreaths at Christmas. Alex is also active with St Thomas School in Caroling at Christmas, penny drives for the needy, and fundraising events for the school.
The Knights of Columbus proudly presents the Family of the Month for April, the Pettine family, a family united in living their faith together. We are blessed to have them in our parish!
