St. Thomas Council is proud to award Knight of the Month for January 2021 to John Chandonnet who has been a Knight for over nine years.
John had served as Grand Knight of the St. Thomas Council for three years. John currently serves as Recorder, Program Coordinator and Community Program Director. He gathers service hours from all the Knights, with which he organizes on a spreadsheet of all various categories of service. Annually he summarizes these service hours and submits the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activities. Knights of Columbus councils must document community service hours in order to maintain a tax-exempt status.
Mr. Chandonnet also serves on the Knight of the Month and the Family of the Month nominating committees. John is a participant on the Sanitizing team and serves as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server. Prior to the pandemic he also organized the coffee social after the 9:00 am Sunday masses.
John prints the certificates for Knight of the Month and Family of the Month and submits articles to both the parish website and the newspaper.
During the month of December 2020, John planned, organized, and staged the Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest and the Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest for the students at St. Thomas School.
