The St. Thomas Council Knights of Columbus named Gerry Newport as Knight of the Month for the month of November 2019.
The question for this month’s knight of the month is: what does he not do? Well… he’s not Mayor of Sanford. Local politics is probably the extent of what he doesn’t do.
Here’s a little of what he does... He is this year’s chairman of the Children’s Christmas party. He’s the Faithful Pilot of the 4th Degree Assembly. He, along with his daughter Monica, was heavily involved in this year’s Parish Harvest Fair. He helped set up for the fair and spent that weekend selling raffle tickets. You might say that he practically lived, ate and slept in the St. Ignatius Gym during the month of October. He’s involved in the local VFW where he coordinated this year’s Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Sanford Memorial Gym. He also coordinated this year’s Memorial Day parade, served as Grand Marshall and rode in that cute convertible. Let’s not forget that he is a greeter and passes the collection basket at the weekly Saturday afternoon service at Holy Family Church. Also, the Newport family was named Family of the Month for October 2019.
Kudos for our brother knight Gerry Newport!
