At 8:00 pm on the first Tuesday of December the lighting of local Nativity scenes occurs throughout the nation. Sanford, Maine was no exception.
However, due to the storm, the Tuesday, December 3
rd ceremony was rescheduled for Wednesday, December 4
th. On December 4th, a group of knights, their wives, and some parishioners met at the St. Therese of Lisieux parish hall for a rosary. After the rosary was completed, they all walked to the town square where a Creche was set up for the Christmas season. They waited till 8:00 pm, where at that time they read a few appropriate prayers, and at 8:00 pm the Creche was lit.
The entourage finished the night off by singing a few Christmas carols. A good time was had by all.
