The St. Thomas and Springvale Knights of Columbus Councils put on a benefit Communion Breakfast for St. Thomas School in Sanford.
Approximately 112 persons feasted on a breakfast menu that included: scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, coffee and orange juice. 12 Knights and 10 volunteers prepared and served the breakfast. The volunteers consisted of wives of the Knights, students and parents of St. Thomas School.
Approximately $1,000 was collected at the door; which resulted in a $560 net profit for the school.
The Knights of Columbus had organized a benefit Roast Beef dinner for the school on Friday, September 8th. The K of C will organize a benefit Roast Pork dinner on Friday, November 10th.
In the past, St. Thomas School had received $21,000 annually from the City of Sanford. Unfortunately, the city cut this funding to the school this year. Both area Knights of Columbus councils are helping St. Thomas School make up for this shortfall.
